Welcome to My Blog

After years of building data pipelines, designing cloud architectures, and scribbling notes in Notion that nobody else reads, I've decided to start writing properly.

This blog is my space to share what I've learnt working as a data engineer - and to think out loud about the things I'm figuring out right now.

What I'll write about

Most articles will fall into one of three buckets:

Technical deep-dives - Things like optimising Databricks jobs, building reusable pipeline frameworks in Azure Data Factory, or getting the most out of Delta Lake. The kind of content I wish existed when I was debugging at 11pm.

Tutorials and how-tos - Step-by-step guides for tasks I find myself doing repeatedly, or that I see people struggle with in the community. Practical, with real code.

Thoughts and opinions - My take on tools, trends, and decisions. Microsoft Fabric vs Databricks. When to use a Data Lakehouse vs a Warehouse. Whether the Modern Data Stack is actually modern anymore.

A bit about me

I'm Muhammad Hassan - a Senior Data Engineer based in Leeds, UK. I've spent the better part of 13 years building data infrastructure for organisations across the UK, mostly in the Azure ecosystem: Databricks, Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, and Power BI.

I care a lot about building things that actually work in production, not just demos that impress in a slide deck.

How often I'll post

No fixed schedule. I'd rather write one good article every few weeks than churn out thin content. Quality over cadence.

If you want to be notified when I post, there's an RSS feed at the top - drop it in your reader of choice.

See you in the next one.
